2006 NHSRA Queen Contest

Please note:
There was an error when the category awards were announced at the recent NHSRA Queen Pageant. The error was in the announcement of the best speech award and not in the points or any of the calculations. So this error did not affect the outcome of the pageant. However, it did have an impact on two very deserving contestants who deserved to be announced as the winners of the category, but were not.

There was a three-way tie for Best Speech with 138 points. The winner that was announced was Miss Texas, Kelsey Bohlen. She actually tied with two other contestants in that category. But their names were not transferred to the announcer's sheet, as Kelsey's was the first name on the list and the other two names were not noticed as a tie when the sheet was made up.

The winners of the Best Speech at the NHSRA Queen Contest were:

Courtenay DeHoff - Kansas
Haley Huff - Illinois
Kelsey Bohlen - Texas

Congratulations to all three excellent contestants!

The NHSRA will, of course, duplicate the awards for Miss Kansas and Miss Illinois for Best Speech and get those to them. We will also make a special announcement and apology in the NHSRA TIMES Finals Edition Magazine. While we cannot turn back time and correct our mistake so that all three girls get announced in front of the exciting crowd and get their picture made, we can strive to do better in the future and try not to let this happen again.

The NHSRA sincerely apologizes for this error and regrets the mistake.

Kent Sturman
NHSRA Executive Director
